Per the Red Devils' scouts spotted a young Neto in 2017 while he was still a part of Braga's youth setup. The Portuguese was invited to visit the club's Carrington training base and even featured in an academy game at Leigh Sports Village.

United would have had to pay a bare minimum training compensation fee to acquire the services of the young winger from the Portuguese club, however, there was a delay of several weeks in sanctioning the move on the Premier League side's part which led to Neto sign his first professional contract with Braga. After that, he eventually moved to Lazio on loan before permanently joining Wolves in 2019.
